The guides show their solidarity

by daily weby

Like everywhere in the world, Antsiranana celebrated International Guides Day which takes place on February 21 each year. This day remains unknown not only to the general public, but also to those in the tourism industry, although the chain of speakers is large.

This is an opportunity to raise awareness of the profession and restore its image. This time, the Anti-Iranian guides, members of five associations and dressed in their respective uniforms, celebrated this day together by carrying out the activities already scheduled. If in the past they celebrated it separately, since last year they decided to join forces, and the organization has improved this year.

The solidarity guides began the celebration with a carnival across the town of Antsiranana. They then met at the La Terrasse du Voyageur hotel, where the official ceremony took place in the presence of political and administrative personalities from the Diana region. The celebration took place with great enthusiasm and palpable solidarity, with the room as full as an egg.

This year, the celebration is placed under the English theme “Tourist guides – our Guardians in promoting and encouraging Green Tourism”. The Antisranese guides, for their part, chose “The Northern guides represent Avaratra, the cradle of Madagascar’s tourist attractions”. The reason for this is clear because the region is rich in varied tourist sites, whether seaside, ecological or natural… It also has unique resources and different types of forests that attract tourists.

During the successive interventions, the spokesperson of the organization described the value of their work in the development of tourism and environmental conservation. “We are the ones who climb the hills, cross the forest, go down into the water, so a huge responsibility awaits us,” says Flavie Soamihanta, who confirmed that they are not only capable of protecting tourism, green or sustainable , but also to promote the destination.
