The finished products of the brand new pasta production unit were presented to Minister Razafindravahy.

Arivonimamo District is celebrating the commissioning of its second industrial unit under the One District, One Factory program. This factory houses a production line for rice-based pasta.

Arivonimamo now hosts its own pasta production unit, with a production capacity of 4 tonnes per day, the equivalent of eighty bags. This new facility, officially inaugurated yesterday by Edgard Razafindravahy, Minister of Industrialization and Trade, is part of the One District, One Factory program. This is the second industrial nursery established in the Arivonimamo district and is under the management of the company NETA (Our Food Processing Company) Madagascar. This initiative constitutes a boost awaited by the municipality and the district, while offering ten direct jobs to young people in the region. According to Miarantsoa Anjaramalala Roland Fidèle, the factory manager, “job creation is one of the advantages of establishing such a unit in our region. We currently employ ten qualified young people who were looking for stable employment.”

It is undeniable that the One District, One Factory program is fully operational. This industrial nursery project, implemented by the Ministry of Industrialization, aims to benefit both producers and consumers.

Advantageous price

The pasta produced, presented in packaging of equivalent quality to that of other imported pasta, offers competitive production quality on the market, and is offered at a competitive price, between 800 and 900 Ariary for 85g. This advantageous price constitutes a less expensive alternative than that of imported pasta, sold at more than 1000 Ariary for 85g. During the inauguration of the factory, the Minister of Industrialization, Edgard Razafindravahy, underlined in his speech the essential objective of the One District, One Factory program: “This project aims to protect our producers, because the difficulty of farmers impact the prosperity of the country. The Ministry of Industrialization is committed to supporting producers and cooperative companies in the search for outlets, by announcing the establishment of a purchasing center dedicated to the products of the One District, One Factory program, in order to promote the production of industrial units in operation.

Beyond its contribution to pasta production, this new factory will have a significant impact on the local population. It will encourage operators in the region, recognized for their productivity, to improve their yields. “Purchasing agricultural products at favorable prices will allow farmers to improve their yield by investing in their inputs,” explained the Minister of Industrialization. Most of the ingredients needed to make pasta, such as rice, oil and eggs, will be supplied by local producers. These are therefore two industrial units of the One District, One Factory program which are now established in Arivonimamo, the other being a unit for manufacturing juice made from pineapple, a fruit abundant in the region.
