Finally, the final list. Six judokas, three boys and three girls, all gold medalists at the last Island Games, will represent Madagascar at the next African Games in Accra, the Ghanaian capital, from March 8 to 23. Half of the preselection was selected to defend the national colors at this continental meeting. The technical team of the federation carried out a selection test on February 17 at the sports palace in Mahamasina for pre-selection. A technical commission had to make a second selection, given that the final squad was revised downwards.

Logical choice, the reigning African champion of seniors and junior girls -70 kg, Laura Aina Razafy Rasoanaivo, gold medalist at the Francophonie Games and the Island Games, is at the top of the list alongside Natacha Razafindrakalo in the -48 kg category and Miora Rasoanaivo in the -78 kg category.

On the boys’ side, there is Angelo Rakotonandrasana in the -60 kg category, Lova Mahaisoa in the -73 kg and Fetra Ranaivoson in the -81 kg. The judo competition will take place from March 12 to 15. Those selected follow intensive daily training under the guidance of the national technical direction at the Saint-Michel dojo in Amparibe.
