As part of the implementation of sports infrastructure that meets standards across the Big Island, the Betafo district has just benefited from an indoor gymnasium as part of a presidential project. A large delegation from the Malagasy Basketball Federation, led by its president Jean Michel Ramaroson, accompanied by Michaël Ralalaharison, president of the Vakinankaratra Regional Basketball League, visited the new sports facility last Saturday.

With an area of 1,400m² and 1,500 places, the new infrastructure was built using the Turkish framing technique, in compliance with international standards.

The gymnasium has four locker rooms, showers and toilets. It also has multi-purpose rooms that can accommodate various training courses, a press room, two VIP rooms and two infirmaries. The exterior arrangements are being finalized, but this does not prevent the use of the site, which is already open to the practice of various disciplines.

The visit of the president of the FMBB, Jean Michel Ramaroson, is in line with the federation’s policy aimed at democratizing access to the (national) championship throughout Madagascar and preparing for upcoming events, whether regional or national.

“As a promoter of basketball at the neighborhood, regional or federal level, the existence of such a standard-compliant infrastructure brings joy to the population. The Vakinankaratra region is a breeding ground for basketball and provides talented players for the Ankoay national team. That each region of Madagascar has great infrastructure like this for the development of sport in general,” suggests Pascal Rasaony, communications manager at the FMBB.
