You can now play Duckside, the ‘Rust with ducks’, for free, thanks to its open beta available on Steam

The developer herself has compared it with DayZ o Rust -survival, PvP, PvE, base construction and equipment- but with the twist of giving prominence to birds armed to the teeth.

The team is taking advantage of this beta to make optimizations in the network codefix bugs, exploits and balance, so this version should not be considered a demo, but what it is, a beta. “If you are experiencing lag, the summary is that it is due to three factors: too many players, too many bases, and too many NPCs. When one of these causes appears, the servers have no errors, with two it is a slight problem and with three it becomes unplayable,” they have commented these days.

They are working on solving these problems, even with some temporary patches, for example reducing player density. In the coming weeks they will work on the client to optimize traffic and apply a base degradation system so that abandoned bases do not accumulate.
