Wickedthe upcoming big screen adaptation of the beloved Broadway show that is a prequel to The Wizard of Oz, received its first trailer at the 2024 Super Bowl.
It is a dream trailer that offers us the first look to the film version of one of the most beloved musicals of recent decades. Of course, the video also serves as an introduction to some of the music the prequel is known for.
The release date of the first part of Wicked
Wicked, which will consist of two parties, will hit theaters on November 27, 2024. Wicked: Part Two is scheduled for release November 26, 2025.
The film is directed by Jon M. Chu and stars Cynthia Erivo in the role of Elphaba Thropp, better known as the Wicked Witch of the West. Ariana Grande accompanies her as Glinda Upland, also known as the Good Witch. They are also in the cast Jonathan Bailey como Fiyero Tigelaar, Jeff Goldblum like the legendary Wizard of Oz, Ethan Later like Boq and Michelle Yeoh like Madame Morrible.
This trailer was highly anticipated, since until now we had only seen glimpses of Elphaba and Glinda. What we did know is that The film Wicked is an adaptation of the 2003 Broadway musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and book by Winnie Holzman. The work is based on the novel that Gregory Maguire published in 1995, Wicked: Memoirs of a Wicked Witchwhich is a kind of prequel from L. Frank Baum’s 1900 novel, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and the 1939 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film.
The 2024 Super Bowl has left us with many other trailers, like the first video of Deadpool 3the only MCU film scheduled for this year.
