The SIM annual general meeting was held yesterday at Carlton Anosy.

The Madagascar Industries Union intends to strengthen this trend, through the promotion of “Vita Malagasy” among Malagasy consumers.

Make “consuming local” a way of life. “Products made locally have nothing to envy of other imported manufactures.” This is the observation of Tiana Rasamimanana, president of the Madagascar Industries Union (SIM). Initiatives to promote local products will continue this year, awareness and communication campaigns on “Vita Malagasy” products will be carried out among the members of this professional group. According to the boss of the SIM, part of the efforts made by the association for this year will go in this direction: “We will help the members of the SIM in communication with a view to promoting the “Vita Malagasy” and the “Malagasy” label ny antsika”. Manufacturers must make joint efforts to educate customers to consume locally,” says Tiana Rasamimanana, on the sidelines of the annual general meeting of the SIM which was held yesterday at the Carlton Anosy.

Promotion

The campaigns carried out by the Industrial Union focus on large and medium-sized supermarkets (GMS), grocery stores and other popular information media, notably social networks. These awareness campaigns began in the Analamanga region in 2020. These mainly involve activities to promote various products, especially where there is the largest audience. Games were organized, for example, on social networks recently. Events at points of sale also continue. These awareness campaigns are carried out in conjunction with the Ministry of Industrialization and Commerce. The supervisory ministry which also promotes local production through its One District, One Factory (ODOF) industrial incubator program. A memorandum of understanding signed between the two parties also provides for collaboration within the framework of the realization of the ODOF project.

For some time now, consumers have been aware of the quality of locally manufactured products. The only downside is the prices.
