by daily weby

Revitalization. The new team of the Malagasy Football Federation and its beach soccer commission are innovating its four-year strategic plan for the development and popularization of beach soccer in Madagascar.

The commission concerned wants to revive the exploits of 2015, where Madagascar won the title of African champion and represented the continent at the World Cup.

Malagasy beach soccer has experienced a flagrant regression in recent years, finishing in last place at CAN 2023. After the feat of 2015 and ranked in the top 5 in 2019, it was among the best in Africa, recording twenty victories consecutively from 2009 to 2015.

As part of the revitalization of the discipline on the Big Island, three major national competitions appear on the calendar for this 2024 season.

A festival followed by a tournament which will last a week will be held in the towns of Sambava and Antalaha in the Sava league, from May 13 to 19. Manakara, in the Atsimo-Atsinanana league, will subsequently host the national championship at the end of June and beginning of July. These competitions will serve as a means of detecting those preselected for the African Cup of Nations which will be held in Egypt in August.

A second festival will also be scheduled in the month of November in the south of the island. Eleven leagues will participate in the event, namely Melaky, Boeny, Atsimo-Andrefana, Vatovavy and Fitovinany, Analanjirofo, Diana, Sava, Atsimo-Atsinanana, Anosy and Menabe. Besides the organization of festivals, the training of technicians and referees will also be among the commission’s priorities.
