Nothing has finally made its new affordable smartphone official, the Phone (2a)
After months of rumors, leaks and clues shared by the company itself, Nothing has presented to the world its new smartphone aimed at the mid-range segment, the Nothing Phone (2a). It is a device that takes over from the Nothing Phone (1) and improves it in several important aspects, ranging from the screen or processoreven the design or photography.

The Phone (2a) is, according to Nothing, “the smartphone they always wanted to make.” However, at the beginning, the company did not have the necessary resources to build the device which has now been introduced as Phone (2a).
Its design follows the aesthetic line of the previous models, with a transparent back which reveals a series of strategically placed trims, taking as inspiration the New York subway maps designed by Massimo Vignelli. On this occasion, the Phone (2a) arrives in three colors: black, white and “milk”.

The device screen uses an AMOLED panel 6.7 inches protected by Gorilla Glass 5, with a resolution of 1084 x 2412 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 hertz, in addition to being capable of reaching a 1300 nits maximum brightness.

There are important differences with respect to the two previous models in terms of design: the Phone (2a) is built in plastic, and not in glass and aluminum like its predecessors. Additionally, the cameras are arranged in horizontal format in the upper central part of its back, simulating “eyes”. These are located inside a module that protrudes from the rear, and which is integrated into the same module where Nothing has incorporated the NFC chip and the device’s processor.
This processor also represents a disruption with respect to Nothing’s history to date. And, for the first time, it has been decided to use a processor signed by MediaTek, the Dimensity 7200-Pro.
This is the same chip manufactured in 4 nanometer TSMC format and with eight CPU cores, two of them ARM Cortex-A715 and six Cortex-A510 that we already saw in the presentation of the original Dimensity 7200. However, both companies would have carried out some modifications to the softwareto achieve a higher level of optimization.
Inside the Phone (2a) there is a processor signed by MediaTek
The chip comes associated with 8 or 12 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of internal storage and Android 14 as a customized operating system by Nothing OS 2.5, which in this version introduces some artificial intelligence functions inspired by third-party software, such as a wallpaper generator.
Its camera system is made up of two main sensors located on the back of the phone: the main one is a Samsung GN9 with 50 megapixel resolution, and the secondary one, also signed by the South Korean company, maintains the 50 megapixels and adds a ultra wide angle lens. The front camera keeps the 32 megapixels thanks to the use of the same Sony IMX615 sensor.
In this sense, it is worth highlighting the inclusion of support for Ultra HDR imagesa new implementation of HDR that combines the Ultra HDR system and advanced HDR.

The Nothing Phone (2a) will be available in three different colors: black, milk and white. The latter will only be available in the official Nothing online store, and the other two can be purchased through any of the partners of sale, including Amazon, El Corte Inglés or WOW Concept. It will be available from March 12.
