In ‘The Substitute’, Ricardo Gómez plays Inspector Andrés Expósito, and it represents a radical change to that good boy image that we had thanks to ‘Cuéntame’. The thriller, directed by Óscar Aibar, is a thriller in the deepest Spain. In the film we meet a group of hidden Nazis who make life impossible for Ricardo Gómez’s character.

Along with Vicky Luengo, protagonist of the series ‘Reina Roja’, which will arrive on Prime Video on February 29, ‘Elsubstitute’ was presented at the Malaga Festival. The director himself commented during the promotion of the film how he came up with the idea for the story. «Years ago a photo caught my attention from the wall of a beach restaurant. In the image you could see some men sitting happily at a table, dressed in German uniforms from World War II. The image had been taken in that same place no more than twenty years ago. I then began an investigation that led me to discover hundreds of details about the Nazi refugees on the Costa Blancaa prosperous community that lived a peaceful retirement in our country until well into the Transition.

What is ‘The Substitute’ about?

Year 1982. A young police officer trained in the toughest neighborhoods of Madrid accepts a posting to a seaside town in the hope of curing his daughter. And, by the way, gain some peace of mind.
