Cruise passengers visited Ankarafantsika Park.

The tourist cruise season has been open since Sunday in Mahajanga.

The large liner National Geographic Explorer made a stopover off the coast of Mahajanga yesterday.

One hundred and forty-eight American tourists and a hundred crew members had descended on land to visit the town of Mahajanga. Some of them visited the sacred lake Mangatsa in Ampitolova while others reached the Ankarafantsika national park, 115 km away.

A city tour was also organized for tourists.

A dance show was also organized at the Baobab tree hotel, in La Corniche.

The large cruise ship visited Durban, South Africa, then Toliara and Morondava, before disembarking at Mahajanga. He returned to Zanzibar in Tanzania.

“One of the ways we can grow our economy is by promoting tourism. We know that many tourists want to visit this region, including Americans,” said region cabinet director Boeny.

The arrival of a liner requires preparation two years in advance. The regional director of transport and tourism of Boeny wanted to thank the region for its support for the development of the sector.

Concerning activities, several deadlines await the Boeny Regional Tourism Office (ORTB) this year.

Mahajanga tourism operators will participate in two international trade fairs, from June 20 to 23. These meetings take place at the CCI Ivato. Each region participates in the Madagascar International Craft Fair as well as the Madagascar International Tourism Fair (ITM).
