The table tennis players from the Big Island continue their adventure after winning gold as a team. Yesterday’s time for the elimination phase of the individual events. The country’s flag bearers have almost assured their entry into their respective groups. In group 2, the reigning champion, Fabio Rakotoarimanana, painfully beat the Djiboutian Abdourazak Bourham from the outset, by 3 to 2. Fabio won the first two sets 11/6 11/9, before losing the next two 9/11 10/12. He subsequently secured the fifth, 11/8.

His runner-up, Antoine Razafinarivo, for his part, easily defeated another Djiboutian, Abdourahman Houd, by 3 to 0 (11/4 11/5 11/7) in group 1.

The third expatriate, Stephen Ravonison, drawn in group 3, for his part, beat Ahmed Djamal from Djibouti 3 to 0 (11/8 12/10 11/9). And the local player, Zo Razafindralambo, won 3 to 0 (11/9 13/11 11/6) against the Sudanese, Elmutasin Eltayeb.

Among the girls, the reigning champion, Hanitra Karen Raharimanana, dismissed the Djiboutian Saredo Kayed by 3 to 0 (11/7 11/6 11/9). Fara Jaoferson, for her part, bowed sharply 0 to 3 in front of Ugandan Judith Nangounzi. Tina Andriatahina and Rotsy Razafimahatratra, for their part, won by forfeit against a Kenyan and an Ethiopian respectively.
