As she takes stock of this decade spent at the head of Paris town hall for the elected socialist, her right-wing opponents are launching their campaign with a view to the next municipal elections in 2026.
This Monday, March 25, the Les Républicains (LR) federation of Paris presented its “Paris 2026” departmental committee bringing together district mayors and senators from the City of Light labeled LR. “Anne Hidalgo’s new communication campaign around her 2014-2024 results cannot prevent it: 2026 will be the year of work-study in Paris! »
“First opposition force in Paris”
In a press release published this Monday evening, Les Républicains, “the first opposition force in Paris, with our district mayors, our Paris councilors, our district councilors, our four senators including Catherine Dumas, president of the Changer Paris group (since the election of Rachida Data the day after his appointment to the Ministry of Culture)”, claim to be “an essential force” in the next municipal election.
This Paris 2026 committee will thus be responsible for “preparing for this momentous deadline, bringing together and harmonizing the actions carried out in all the districts” of the capital. The Parisian LR federation is also planning the upcoming launch of “alternation meetings” which “will bring together personalities from civil society, experts, elected officials and activists to prepare a work-study project that truly responds to the priorities of Parisians” .
The opposition did not refrain from an attack on the municipal majority. “Faced with the crises that Paris is going through, we will organize reflection around major themes such as security, quality of life, the environment, the development of the Seine, youth, education…” A “disruptive” approach with that above ground of the current municipality which leads to dogmatic positions which disfigure our City”, supports the right.
