Michael J Fox’s exciting wheelchair appearance at the 2024 BAFTA Awards

The night of the BAFTA Awards 2024 left great moments to remember but none as exciting as the appearance of Michael J Fox.

The 62-year-old actor was invited by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts to present the award to Best filmwhich took Oppenheimerand received a standing ovation when he appeared on stage at London’s Royal Festival Hall

Michael J Fox, who minutes before the gala had posed on the red carpet with his wife, the actress Tracy Pollanentered the stage in a wheelchair receiving applause from his colleagues.

The actor, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 1991, when he was only 29 years old, has become an example of improvement demonstrating that, despite the deterioration of his health, he is willing to rise against adversity. In fact, even though he needed assistance to make his way to the lectern where the microphone was, he stood up to give him the award for film of the year.

“They’re the best thing we do. No matter who you are or where you come from, these movies bring us together. There’s a reason they say movies are magic. Because a movie can change your day. It can change your exterior. Sometimes it can also change your life,” said the actor before reading the list of nominees and proclaiming Christopher Nolan’s film the winner.
