David Broncano and ‘The Resistance’

by daily weby

If confirmed, the signing of David Broncano could be the strategy that, for once, would shake the reign of Pablo Motos and his ‘El hormiguero’ at Atresmedia. Apparently, The Audiovisual Purchasing Committee of the Public Corporation has already approved the signingwhich means that there is only one step left before its confirmation: that the Board of Directors of the Entity gives its approval.

It has been ‘El mundo’ who has advanced this possible change of house for Broncano, who neither saw it clear to leave Movistar nor ruled out moving to some other free-to-air network, such as Telecinco. However, RTVE has the advantage in the negotiations that would involve three seasons and a maximum budget for each of them of between 12 and 14 million euros.

It has been the monetary issue that, according to ‘El mundo’, has left Mediaset out of the negotiations, which is still fresh from the debacle of ‘Chinese Tales’. But RTVE is not entirely clear either: apparently, only 3 or 4 of the councilors, out of 9, would be for the job. About 5 votes in favor are needed, according to 20 minutes. The interim president of RTVE, Elena Sánchez, could have rejected the hiring for reasons similar to Mediaset: she prefers to reach an agreement with El Terrat, producer of ‘The Resistance’, for one extendable year and not for the three that Broncano asks for.

Next week the Board of Directors has an extraordinary meeting scheduled, so we will soon know if the access After Telediario 2 it would be occupied by Broncano in clear confrontation with Motos and its average of more than two million viewers in 2023. Who would possibly fall is the fiction ‘4 stars’, a daily series that ends in August. The perfect time for Broncano to take over.
