More than three hundred athletes, all categories combined, came early on Sunday morning to be ready for starting times.

In the senior men’s category, Elysé Heriniaina from COSFA flew alone from start to finish. He completed the 10 km distance in 33’21”36, followed by his friend from COSFA, Fidèle Haveloma, in second position, in a time of 34’12”36. Third place went to COSPN athlete, José Rabemanankevitra, in a time of 34’26”83.

After his victory, Elysé Heriniaina said he was satisfied with his race. “I am happy and satisfied with my race. The first mission was successful, that of winning. For the national summit in Ambatondrazaka, I will redouble my efforts in preparation because the opponents there will be tougher.”

Get off to a flying start

In the senior women’s category, only two athletes took the start. They are Lucie Nivonirina from ASCUT, who finished first in a time of 48’24”6 over the 10 km distance, and Tantely Tsiaro from TAF, who completed the 10 km distance in 49 ’35”6. But Lucie Nivonirina competed out of category; the title of champion of Analamanga went to Tantely Tsiaro.

Léonard Razafindramiasa, president of the athletics league of the Analamanga region, made it clear: “I would like to thank the parents who responded by pushing their children to participate in the regional championship. The objective was achieved thanks to the massive participation of all the athletes, and the athletes who came first three will compete at the national summit in Ambatondrazaka.”

The eyes of all athletes are now turning towards the national summit of Ambatondrazaka, because we must start with a bang to mark the opening of the 2024 season with this national summit in the capital of the Alaotra-Mangoro region.
