Two young beach volleyball players from Atsinanana will represent the country at the Acnoa U18 Games in Seychelles.

The Malagasy Volleyball Federation will present two teams in the U18 beach volleyball competition at the next Acnoa Games. The 2024 version will take place in Seychelles in early May.

Place for young people. One of the next major activities of the Malagasy Volleyball Federation will be participation in the under-18 beach volleyball competition at the Games of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (Acnoa), zone 7. event will be held in Seychelles from May 6 to 11. The Federation entered the four players, two boys and two girls, in March, during the CAVB Club Championship, zone 7.

The first head of the National Beach Volleyball Commission, Fidinirina “Tarzan” Andrianarijaona, had to quickly make the selection and complete the list. “I insisted on size and of course technical mastery as criteria,” explains Tarzan. The men’s selection will be formed by two players from Atsinanana, namely Tyno Guillet Allane Nomenjanahary and Bradley Michel Andrianjafy.

The women’s team will be made up of Miahy Riantsoa Randriamiarisoa from Bi’as Analamanga and Safidy Freda Tsimialona from Boeny. As part of the development of beach, Fidinirina Andrianarijaona, the only international instructor of the CAVB in beach volleyball, trainer of coaches and referees, has, since December, led training for coaches and referees, in addition to players. In three months, he has already toured Toamasina, Sainte-Marie, Fénérive-Est, Mahajanga, Morondava and Toliara.

Promotion

During the next vacation period, he will travel to lead training in Ambatondrazaka, Morondava, Sambava, Antsirabe and Vatomandry. It will also organize tournaments at the Whale Festival in Sainte-Marie in July and at the Somaroho festival in Nosy-be in August. The promotion of beach volleyball is among the priorities of the new Federation team elected in October 2023, chaired by Léa Raharimalala, a former champion of the discipline. The Federation’s steering committee held an extraordinary meeting this weekend. It was an opportunity to present the report for the first half of its financial year.

Among the notable events were the organization of the CAVB Champions Club Championship, zone 7 in March, the U23 Madagascar Cup in Mahajanga, the day of reflection and the recreational day with the stakeholders of the discipline. As for local competitions, the U16 Madagascar Classic Volleyball Cup will take place in Mahajanga from July 13 to 20.
