    Concertos Grossi Op. 6

Accademia Bizantina Orchestra, Ottavio Dantone (harpsichord and conductor).

Following the triumphant momentum of their Handel concerti grossi, Ottavio Dantone and his Accademia Bizantina Orchestra continue their discographic exploration with Corelli, considered the historical initiator of the concertante genre. Virtuoso ardor, unbridled expressiveness and sonic enjoyment are at the service of a music to which the Italians naturally possess the keys. “Corelli is our storysays Dantone. He taught us to speak in music. Our language is rooted in its notes. » The enchanting fluidity of the solo bows, the liveliness and homogeneity of the Tutti instrumental paste, the liveliness of the dialogue playing in the form of a crossover offer a reading of great freedom (although perfectly controlled), using dramaturgical affects with a stunning art. Complete works for solo piano
    Keigo Mukawa (piano).
Cover of the album “Complete works for solo piano”, by Maurice Ravel by Keigo Mukawa (piano).

Few pianists can be authentically described as “Ravelians”. Keigo Mukawa is one of them. At only 30 years old, this Japanese trained in Paris proves, with this double CD, that he instinctively possesses the music of Maurice Ravel. He does not endow it with any seduction, lyrical or contemplative, which would appear artificial and ensures that it sounds of itself so well that, over the years, the personality of the composer never seems to vary. Striving towards an ideal of objectivity which cannot be confused with coldness, Keigo Mukawa’s interpretation makes variations in density sensitive (Pavane for a deceased infantaby turns heavy and light), of plasticity (Sonatine sharp) and intensity (Water sports more luminous than streaming). There are many beaches that arouse astonishment and admiration. Scarbo is no longer a piece of breathtaking virtuosity, but a cinematic projection that keeps you in suspense. And the Touched of Tomb of Couperinwhich closes this anthology journey, confirms that with Mukawa, everything is in the touch, from the finger to the pedal. Pierre Gervasoni

    Puzzled
Cover of the album “Puzzled”, by Pierre-François Blanchard.

Pierre-François Blanchard, a pianist with an eloquent career (Pierre Barouh, Archie Shepp, Marion Rampal…), offers a puzzle of delicate melodies to Thomas Savy, the most underestimated of today’s (bass) clarinetists. Blanchard knows that Savy will know how to sneak in and dynamite everything… Fifteen years of friendship. Same classic course, same morals of the game, total ineptitude for cheating. Taking advantage of confinement, Pierre-François Blanchard composes songs without words, deliciously sensible, like a madman. One per day, including the one called Green meadow. Under his shadowy fake tough eyebrow, Savy sneaks in on these lullabies that he subverts. Immediate charm, we don’t know which of the two invented it, who is the guest. It’s reassuringly disquieting, like those cinema films that we call “silent”, even though we talk all the time. Record for birds to listen to. Puzzle for musicians and, obviously, for small children.
