Alice and Tintin, refuges and sailors

THE MORNING LIST

This month, we offer you some shelters in case of bad weather and, in anticipation of the holidays, programs for children that adults should also enjoy listening to.

Happy storms

For its 60th anniversary, France Inter is giving us an invaluable gift by bringing back into our ears nine episodes of its much-missed marine weather bulletins. Because listening to them is like opening the windows and taking a deep breath of wind and salty air. Even an invitation to put on your boots and cast off. Thus, on March 24, 1977, we learned that a force 7 severe weather warning was in progress over Ireland, while on March 1is April 2004, Marie-Pierre Planchon, in a facetious mood, concocted a weather forecast for transfixed lovers. Invigorating, these open mic bulletins were so useful that we hope to see them reappear in the Inter grid.

“Marine Weather. The nuggets of our 60 years.” Nine episodes of a few minutes available on demand on Radiofrance.fr and all the usual listening platforms

The need for refuge

What is a shelter? According to Le Petit Robert, it is “a place where one takes refuge to escape danger” or “a place where people gather who know they are accepted there”. And Julia Lasry, who devotes a fascinating audio series to the subject, recalls that “the word takes different forms depending on each person’s journey. For some, it evokes comforting places, where one feels safe, while for others it is linked to migrations and exile. » It is this plurality of definitions that made him want to explore the polysemy of this term. Especially since everyone has already needed a refuge, whether it be a cabin or a mental space, the couch of their psychoanalyst or a welcoming place. And this is all that she poses and explores in the first episode, with notably the linguist and translator Alyah Morgenstern.

Recorded the day after October 7, 2023, the following episode questions: “As the refuge of Jews around the world is hit to the heart, we have taken the time to return to some key questions: what is Israel? Where to find refuge in these times of war? How to overcome identity refuges? » To shed light on these questions, Julia Lasry invited Rabbi Delphine Horvilleur, who, stunned, said: “Today, what is being trampled is our humanity. » Before adding: “A cabin is porous, it’s our own space but open to the outside. Everyone at home is very reassuring at the moment. I am Jewish, vegan, Muslim, gay: we are forced or we choose to define ourselves by a small part of ourselves, which reduces us. »
