The Padel tournaments, organized by the Malagasy Pro Padel Tour (MPPTour), come one after the other, but are not the same. This Saturday March 9 and Sunday March 10, the third Orange MPPTour tournament of the year will be played which will take place at the Lamakoo Padel Center in Ambatobe.

This Orange MPPTour 100, as its name suggests, earns one hundred points to the winners of the men’s and women’s categories. It is a tournament which brings together seventy-two players, including forty-eight boys and twenty-four girls. This tournament reserved for hopefuls is eagerly awaited because the big names will not be present in both categories, due to the large number of points they have accumulated in the general classification.

“It’s an opportunity offered to players, of low caliber in some way, to have a chance to make a name for themselves and above all to accumulate points. This tournament will be mainly marked by the absence of the Robinson sisters, who have won everything since the opening of the circuit, in July 2023, in the women’s category. Their absence is due to their ranking as well as their points, which prevents them from participating in the current tournament,” confides Gary Ah-Waye, one of the MPPTour managers.

Booming

In the women’s category, the pairs formed by Rianja Rakotovao and Mialy Rajhonson, as well as sisters Miora and Miary Raoilison, are among the favorites.

Among the men, the pairs Rizwane Moussadik and Mathis Marchand, as well as Sébastien Andriantsoa and Franck Ranaivoson, leave like a scarecrow in front of their peers.

“Currently, in Madagascar, particularly in the capital, padel is booming. We want to welcome even more players to our circuit, especially among the youngest. This is also one of our main long-term objectives. We also aspire for Madagascar to gradually become a padel destination popular with fans from all over the world, even if there is still a long way to go,” confide Sébastien Andriantsoa and Gary Ah-Waye, co-founders of the MPPT circuit.
