In full preparation for the XIIIth edition of the African Games which will take place in Accra, Ghana from March 8 to 23, the Malagasy hurdler Sidonie Fiadanantsoa, resident of the Dakar Athletics Development Center (AADC) continues to perfect great performances. On Wednesday February 7, the traditional indoor athletics meeting took place in Mondeville, Normandy at the Ornano hall where Sidonie Fiadanantsoa lined up in the 60 meter hurdles distance.
She ran the 60 meter distance in 8”12”180 and came in second behind Bahamian Charisma Taylor with her time of 7”94 ahead of Japanese Yumi Tanaka’s 8”12”21.
Sidonie Fiadanantsoa, after her gold medal at the Francophonie Games in Kinshasa in 2023, is on the rise. She continues to improve personal bests. Last Friday, during the series race of the 5th Elite Indoor Meeting in Miramas, Sidonie Fiadanantsoa once again set a personal best of 8″09 over 60m hurdles.
She finished second in the series dominated by Allessandrini Sacha from Nice Côte d’Azur athletics. In the final, Sidonie Fiadanantsoa completed the 60-meter distance in 8”23, finishing in sixth place. The American Hughes Amber went to the top step of the podium, signing the best time of 8″01. On January 28 during the Elite Indoor Meeting in Nantes, the Indian Ocean champion had already achieved a best performance of 8″12.
Since the 18th World Indoor Championship in Belgrade last year, Sidonie achieved a personal best of 8’22, the result she has just achieved during the traditional indoor athletics meeting at the Ornano hall showed real progress.
The National Technical Director (DTN) of the Fma, Hery Rambeloson explained that “Sidonie Fiadanantsoa needs to rub shoulders with the best in the world to progress”.
