Two hundred and eighty-nine trailers out of the five hundred expected were present at the starting line at Cemeam in Ankadikely Ilafy for the Trail race called “Aina no Fetra”, which the Ny Mainty Manga Association of Sampati Analamahitsy scouting organized last Saturday.
Among the one hundred and twenty-one participants at the distance of 35 km, with an altitude of 1,206 meters, one hundred and fifteen crossed the finish line. Unsurprisingly, Jeannot Avotriniaina Tahirinirina dominated his rivals in the senior men’s category. He covered the 35 km in 2h46mn49s, closely followed by Hasina Rafalimanana in 2h55mn59s. Third place was taken by Kevin Patrick Randriamampionona, crossing the finish line after 3h01mn58s of racing.
For the ladies, Miora Angelina Razanakolona, in a time of 3h35mn40s, crossed the finish line far in front, with more than 10 minutes ahead of her first pursuers, in the person of Andrée Sidonie Randrianarivelo, second, in 3h45mn55s . Third place went to Ludivine Conrié, who completed the 35 km distance in 3h48mn05s.
For the distance of 12 km with 412 meters of elevation gain, one hundred and seventy-one runners crossed the finish line. Among the men, Herilala Fiderana Rafanomezantsoa was the first to cross the finish line in a time of 53mn27s, followed by Heriniaina, second, in 53mn52s. Tolonihary Maherisoa took third place with a time of 54mn39s.
In the female category, Pierrette Rasoarivelo took first place in 1h16mn12s, followed by Nambinintsoa Ravaoarisoa in 1h19mn28s. The third place went to Soa Miangaly Ranaivo Rajesy in 1h21mn57s.
The male winner of the 35 km distance, Jeannot Avotriniaina Tahirinirina, explained that: “I did not encounter any problems during the race. This time, I tried to lead from the start, an attitude to which I am not accustomed but today (Saturday), it was rather a great and very successful experience.”
