The events took place on Saturday, around 7 p.m., on the D938 near Grand-Couronne. For a reason that remains to be determined, the car in which the 30-year-old woman was traveling suddenly deviated from its lane and violently collided with another vehicle, which was coming in the opposite direction.
An open investigation
The husband of the pregnant woman, who was at the wheel of the car, escaped with slight injuries, as did the driver of the other vehicle. Emergency transported to Rouen University Hospital after firefighters intervened at the scene of the accident, the eight-month pregnant woman did not survive her injuries. She died, as did her baby.
An investigation has been opened to determine the exact circumstances of the fatal accident. In 2022, 3,267 people died on the roads, according to the latest report from the National Interministerial Road Safety Observatory, a figure up slightly compared to previous data.
