Twitter extends the character limit per tweet to 280 for all its users

by drbyos

Twitter has announced this Tuesday the extension to all its users of the maximum limit of characters per tweet, which goes from 140 to 280 for all languages except Japanese, Chinese and Korean.

After having started testing this feature last September, the social network has ensured that only 5% of the published tweets exceeded 140 characters.

Through a statement, the ‘microblogging’ platform has announced the extension of the character limit per tweet to 280, thus universalizing the tests that it began to carry out last September, when some users of its platform were able to publish messages with up to twice the content of the original 140 characters.

Specifically, the extension of the limit will be implemented to all languages in which the 140-character restriction “was a barrier”, which excludes Chinese, Japanese and Korean, which have denser writing systems and barely They have had problems with the length of their messages.
