The Vakinankaratra Crown runner, Avotriniaina Tahirinirina Jeannot, multiple winner of the country’s trails, confirms his supremacy during the second edition of the Marovatana Trail this Saturday. He crossed the finish line first by completing the 30km with an elevation gain of 1172 m, from the Rova of Ambohimanga to Ambohitsimeloka, in the district of Ambohidratrimo in 2:26:23. He was followed by Hasina Rafalimanana (2:28:28), winner among veterans and Kevin Patrick Randriamampionona completes the podium (2:31:24).
For the ladies, the scratch was made by Marie Noeline Razafiarisoa (3:21:22). She was ranked 22nd overall. Rojoarisoa Dina Rabesandratana finished in second place and 28th overall (3:27:56) ahead of Jeanne Pierrette Rasoarivelo (3:39:17) who set the best time among the veteran ladies and 39th overall.
Two hundred and eighteen out of the two hundred and thirty-five registrants of eight different nationalities crossed the finish line and were classified at the end of the race. This Marovatana trail served as preparation for the next edition of the Ultra Trek of the Sacred Hills (UTCS), the four-stage trail, scheduled for November.
