This Wednesday, the head of the faction of the Bancada Cyan, Christian Guevara, affirmed that the Constitution does not express that there should be legislative seats as a result of the electoral residue.
«There is no part in the Constitution that says that we have to have Residual Deputies. I also searched for the terms gravel, bagasse and crumbs and neither. What it does say is that the vote of Salvadorans must be free, secret, and EGALITARIAN,” Guevara asserted.
These statements arise within the framework of the announcement issued by President Nayib Bukele on the reduction of deputies in the Legislative Assembly, reducing to 60 deputies instead of 84, an initiative approved the previous Tuesday, added to the elimination of the figure that allowed obtaining one seat per electoral residue.
