The authorities of the Patagonian universities defined the creation of its own Institutional Network within the framework of the First Meeting of these houses of studies that was held in La Pampa. The rectors of the different Houses of Study will seek to consolidate cooperation, articulation activities of scientific and technological developments and inter-institutional mobility of teachers, students, non-teachers and graduates. The National University of Comahue (UNCo) and the National University of Río Neogr (UNRN) are part of the institutional commitment.
“We believe that federalism must not only be proclaimed but also exercised and together we will have more strength to demand the National Ministry of Education”, remarked the rector of the National University of Río Negro (UNRN), Anselmo Torres, after the meeting held last Tuesday, at the house of higher studies in Pampas.
According to the disseminated statement, the creation of the Institutional Network of Patagonian Universities has the goal of sharing and cooperating in joint efforts to strengthen resources and collaborate mutually, «which will allow the development of articulation activities, within each institution, at a regional, national and international level».
The network also seeks «strengthen and articulate the academic offers of undergraduate and postgraduate, face-to-face and mediated by technology and implement common paths of technical-professional training, joint degrees at all educational levelss”, as recorded.
Among other objectives, it also seeks «make institutions visible internationally and develop joint actions for inclusive and quality internationalization; encourage and promote good institutional management practices; consolidate and articulate scientific developments and technological linkage with regional companies and research institutions”.
The intention is to “promote inter-institutional mobility processes for teachers, students, non-teachers and graduates; strengthen the community, social link and with the native peoples of the Patagonian region”, It was specified in the statement released.
It also points to “articulate proposals for online distance education and cooperate in the construction of an educational agenda, focused on human rights (education in confinement contexts, gender perspective and sustainable development)”.
In this sense, Anselmo Torres told Télam that the Network “It is one of the central policies that we want to develop, we believe that we must move forward to strengthen ourselves among all the Patagonian universities”.
