On this occasion, the orchestra will have the presence of Silvio Viegas as guest conductor.
Viegas, a Brazilian conductor of outstanding Latin American career, is currently Acting Conductor of the Minas Gerais Symphony Orchestra, of the Palacio das Artes in Belo Horizonte and holder of the chair of Orchestral Conducting at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
Until 2016, he was Musical Director of the Municipal Theater of Rio de Janeiro and Professor of Conducting at the School of Music of the Federal University of Minas Gerais. Before that, he was Artistic Director of the Clóvis Salgado Foundation in Belo Horizonte from 2003 to 2005 and Interim Artistic Director of the Municipal Theater of Rio de Janeiro from 2011 to 2012.
As a guest conductor, he conducted the Verona Arena Orchestra, the Rome Symphony, the Burgas Symphony (Bulgaria), the Szeged Festival Symphony (Hungary), the Algarve Orchestra (Portugal), the Brazilian Symphony, Petrobras Symphony, the Stable Orchestra of the Teatro Argentino de La Plata and Amazonas Philharmonic, among others.
