Movistar announces initial investment of $280 million in El Salvador

The CEO of Movistar El Salvador, Luis del Cid, announced that the company is interested in the country’s Digital Agenda 2020-2030, which is why it will invest, initially, $280,000,000.00, with which they seek the deployment of the new 5G Ready network for Expand and improve connectivity throughout the national territory.

“This investment positions us as a strategic partner that drives the technological transformation of El Salvador, in accordance with the Country’s Digital Agenda 2020-2030, designed by the current Government,” Del Cid told Diario El Salvador.

“The initiative is a reflection of the good investment climate that exists in El Salvador, additionally it represents a business effort to improve the quality of the services they provide to their clients, stimulating competition and the technological development of the country for the benefit of Salvadorans”, expressed Manuel Aguilar, head of SIGET.

Movistar will launch the eSIM, a virtual SIM that will allow any user, prepaid or postpaid, to have multiple active lines in their hands on a single device.

Aguilar added that this investment is an opportunity to update the country’s technological park: “they constitute a transversal tool that benefits all industries and generates a pole of better-paid qualified jobs.”

The investment reflects the company’s confidence in the country’s future and Salvadorans’ access to state-of-the-art services.
